Gilbane San Francisco – A Scholarship?

Gilbane San Francisco – A Scholarship?

I’ve been invited to speak at the upcoming Gilbane Conference on Content Management that starts next week.  The conference starts on Wednesday and goes through Thursday evening.    There are a number of tracks in the conference including Content Publishing, Content Technology, Colleagues and Collaboration and Customers and Engagement.

That last one is the track that my talk will be on – I’m calling it Web Content Management – Digital Marketing Hub.   It should be alot of fun and (hopefully) relatively informative.

The whole conference is an absolute must if you’re a practitioner or manager in charge of your Web site and content management strategy.

But here’s the thing…..

As a speaker, the conference organizers were kind enough to grant me one conference pass (other than myself).   I had intended it for a colleague – but he can’t go now….

So…. Do you want to go?

UPDATE (5/17/10): I’ve selected Sue Anne Reed for the free Gilbane San Francisco conference pass.  Why?  Well mostly because she plied me with such nice compliments.  But also because she’s super-cool and works (and has worked) with some interesting companies.

I’d love for the pass to not go to waste… Especially since it’s a thousand bucks ($995) to get in. It’s not often that I get to give out $1,000 bucks of educational goodness – but there we are.

So…. In the comments below – tell me why you want to come…  And I’ll have a completely unscientific, perfectly illegitimate, wholly subjective drawing and pick my favorite comment for the pass….

Okay…. that’s it….. Bring it…

@Doug… thank you so much… very funny… Loved it!

@Tonia – I definitely hear you on the price of conferences – they are very expensive for those that aren’t working for a larger company…

I had to go with @Sue-Anne… It was tough…And I so appreciate everybody playing along…

    Hi Robert….

I really want this scholarship. I do my best in any and everything that I do. I’m a college student in the Bay Area and I’m looking to learn more about how content and the internet are helping non-profits.

I believe I am worthy of this scholarship. The main reason I can’t go to events like these is because they are expensive. I want to become a marketing manager. I think this conference will help me. College is expensive – and this looks like a great event to help me reach my goals.

    Thanks….

Did you know you were the first person to #FF me and I still remember that you said it was because I help bring people together and share information. That was almost a year ago, and that has stuck with me and continued to be my philosophy in how I work with Twitter.

That’s why I would love for you to give me the pass. As you’ve seen from Twitter in the past, I’m a big sharer when I go to these things, and I would love to go to #gilbanesf and share what I’ve learned with the various communities I’m involved with.

Plus, this will give me the added incentive of actually getting up to SF and meeting you while you’re in town.

So, please pick me. I would be super grateful. :)

    Okay… here’s mine….

A doctor, an architect, and a consultant are arguing about what’s the oldest profession….

The doctor says “the Bible says God created Eve from a rib taken from Adam. This had to mean surgery, and so I say that doctors are the oldest profession in the world.”

The architect then says “But even earlier… In Genesis, it says God created the heavens and the earth from out of the chaos. This was the first and most spectacular application of architecture. Therefore, doctor, you are wrong: architecture is the oldest profession in the world.”

The consultant smiles and leans back in his chair and then says confidently, “Ah, but who do you think created the chaos?”
